The movement of the Sun is followed along two axes, x and y. The X-axis tracks the azimuth of the sun during the day (East-West). The Y-axis tracks the elevation of the sun during the year (North-South), which rotates about 1º a week.
In 2007 the robotics that controls WS Energia's trackers was ranked as one of the five most creative electronic designs that will have a positive effect on the environment by the panel of the Live EDGE Electronic Design for the Global Environment challenge.
Today, every tracker and concentrator produced by WS Energia integrates the SunGravityControl®, the fully world-wide accessible robotic control that is redefining the tracking standard. Equipped with CAN, GSM, USB-on-the-GO, 4 - I2C ports and Bluetooth, the SunGravityControl® allows improved performance (constant updates), increased up time (remote monitoring) and reduces maintenance (remote control).
When equipped with additional sensors, the SunGravityControl reaches a precision below 1º, making it the perfect control for concentration applications.
The absence of external sensors in the standard applications guarantees constant performance along the 20 years lifetime.
Tomorrow, the trackers will talk one to the other turning a power plant into an intelligent group of units inserted into an interactive, extremely efficient grid of intelligent entities.
